The Weeping Nation
A public performance by Alonso Galue, developed at Agitator Gallery and presented at Scratch Night (Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival), exploring Venezuelan exile through a grieving maternal figure.
Features a towering puppet head and a street procession embodying collective mourning.
Followed by a mask-making workshop as part of Studio Sundays.

 

The WonderMask Pilgrimage
A ritual performance by Alonso Galue presented at the Chicago Cultural Center with the Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival.
The piece blends Andean mythology and protest with public procession and ancestral storytelling.
Participants follow a masked figure through city landmarks, enacting memory and displacement.

 

The Marisol Experiment

A sculptural tribute to Marisol Escobar exploring portraiture, assemblage, and Chicago’s Latinx theater community.
Developed with Wendy Madrigal, curated by Lorena Diaz, and presented at Floating World Gallery.
Commissioned by Teatro Vista and highlighted on WGN Chicago with Lourdes Duarte during Hispanic Heritage Month.
